Up Next: “Deadeye”
Touch them, and you go blind. Pull the trigger, and you might die. Ladies and gentlemen, don’t become a Deadeye.
AI’s, eerily human-like robots built to create a better future, have escaped, with only have one goal……build a relationship with humans.
Why is that bad? Most would say that these particular AI’s are superior to humans in almost every way! Well, when the creators of the AI-To-Life robots finished their project, they made one minor mistake:
If the AI’s touch a human, then the human will go blind, becoming a Deadeye.
And in the City of Caecus….there are a lot of Deadeye’s.
Jesse Ackerman, a 24 year old human who means nothing to anyone (at least that’s what he believes) has been watching the “AI epidemic” unfold for the last 158 days, and all he wants to do is hermit down with his housemate, Maya, while the epidemic fades away.
But nothing fades. If anything, the danger gets worse, and when Jesse is offered the journey of a lifetime by his detective brother, he has to accept.
The mission is simple: There is one AI who is greater than the rest. One that has caused over 50% of the blindings in the city. Find that AI, and eliminate it.
In a world inspired by Cyberpunk and Bladerunner, this dark short story tells a tale not only of adventure, but of grief, loyalty, and consequence.
About Me:

Hi! My name is Jack Graves, and I’m a current rising senior in college, majoring in psychology. I have a strong passion for writing, and I have a dream to one day become a full time author.
I enjoy any form of storytelling (books, movies, tv shows, video games, etc), love traveling, and have also always been a huge sports fan, especially in basketball and football.

My current goals:
- Edit the 3rd draft of my short story, “Deadeye”
- Finish the 1st draft of my novel, “The One Dressed in Blood”
- Figure out if I’m going to go to graduate school (it’s stressful)!
